Seylan Merchant Bank PLC. (SMB) recorded a Rs. 50.29 million net profit after tax for the year ended December 31, 2003. This was the highest profit recorded in its 11 - year history. The company attributes the restructuring program such as establishment of subsidiaries, creation of successful leasing and fixed income securities business as major factors for the growth in profit.
